OK, I don't know bout the US avaliability of these alarm systems... designed for car use, but it works on a bike too.
These come at bout 500$ in EU... and I think it's a great idea.
It uses the GSM system... u get a SIM card and a tel. number with it, so u can use your GSM mobile phone to activate/deactivate it with a proper code, make it howl, disable the ignition and the cops can trace the signal in 2 hrs (here at least) and pinpoint the bike in a 500m radius. If it goes off, it calls your GSM number... so u know there's sth wrong with the bike.
A friend did a test... his friend took his bike to an unknown location and put it in a garage.
So, this friend called to learn the location of the bike, drove there and signalled the bike alarm to go off... then he just followed the sound... and found the bike within 2,5hrs.
The manufacturer is a Croatian company, and I'll try to contact them if anyone's interested...
