    Yamaha Carb Cleaner

I am one who rarely spends more than $1.50 on a can of carb cleaner, but on the recommendations of an aircraft mechanic friend of mine who just restored a '72 XS2 (650), I paid the $13 to the Yam dealer for a qt of their carb cleaner. WOW! well spent.
I let the bowls of my carb sit in the juice for 24 hrs, they cam out totally free of deposits. The ultimate test was on a friend's 1935 Rolls Royce carburetor. The thing, besides being 70 years old, sat for 10 years in a barn, barely able to get it running. Took the carb off and appart, soaked it overnight, came out so clean, unbelieveable.
If you have problems with your carb, spend the $13...

Has anyone used Yamaha Carb Cleaner? The part number is ACC-CARBC-LE-NR and I found an article about it at: http://www.vjmc.org/techtips/carbclean.htm

I used it when I was a Yamaha mechanic. It's pretty good but it's not the only good carb cleaner around.

On the other hand Yamabond 4 and 5 sealers are well worth the trip to the Yamaha dealer.

Yamabond #4 is thin and designed to seal precsion machined surfaces like cases and #5 is thicker and makes a rubber gasket like seal. Also #5 is good for repairing carb diaphrams.
