  • TKAT's fork brace

I just ordered this part on thursday and arrived here in my mailbox today (saturday).

I'll go into detail about the whole thing and give his contact for those interested as well, but for the time being, I'll just say this.

Took less than five minutes to install.
    Fits like a glove.
My bike handles like a dream now.

Okay, already. Sorry for the delay fellas.
The email address stated above is correct.
Dealing with TKAT was great. He's got limited stock at present but I think he has more plans to have these made after his august vacation.

The fit, apparently is a little less than glovelike. Still, I feel that this product does its job well.
All for a mere $85 with shipping included.

              Fork Brace Installation

Did you have any problem raising the dust boots? I have the brace, and now that I have it polished, when I tried to lift the boots, gently, they didn't seem to want to go. Is there a "trick" to it, or do I need to be more forceful?

On my 78E there is a little indented groove around the fork that the boot sorta snaps in.

                  Ralph,
Yeah all the forks have a formidable lip that you have to get the boot over. Use a thicker slotted screwdriver, then once you can, work the perimeter with your fingers to coax it over the lip.

                  And now, another formidable lip:

The lip looks just like the top of the fork brace. Just raise the dust cover out of the way, mount the clamps around lower fork tubes, test fit the cross brace, lower and install dust boot. Install the cross brace.

Above directions are for a Special gives you a little more room to install the dust boot, on a Standard install the dust boot last.

                    Your done.

Oh my. I can't believe the difference the fork brace makes! And I'm talking about the way the bike handles in normal, everyday traffic. I actually had to get used to the new, firmer feel of the front end.....I guess I had gotten accustomed to the drift!

                          What a bargain!

I just put one of these on my SG. If you want your bike to handle like a sport bike you NEED one of these.

As many of you already know the XS11 has notoriously spindly fork tubes for a bike as big and heavy as it is. Feeling a scary wobble in the front end when you dive into the curves? The Tkat fork brace is the remedy.
