  • Standard Rings - cruzinimage_co

    XS Folks,
I recently purchased and installed new rings in one of my XS11's. I purchased these from e-bay seller "cruzinimage_co " of Chiba Japan. $42.95 plus $9.60 shipping.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/YAMAHA-XS110...xTebSE&vxp=mtr

The quality of these rings is very good and what I believe would be comparable/equal to OEM. I do not BELIEVE OEM STD rings are available any longer from Yamaha. They are not available from Partzilla.

The compression in this bike was soooo bad it wouldn't even start (60#).

Rather than perform a re-bore with new pistons & rings and machine shop charges I installed these new STD rings. Combined with a minor FLEX hone job I got my compression to nearly OEM spec.

The ring gaps were SLIGHTLY beyond spec (.008 - .016) at .022-.024 but well within the wear limit tolerance of .039.

The bike started on the second revolution and it runs very good.

I just purchased another set for another of my XS11's and they arrived in THREE DAYS! I don't know how the heck that happened but it was a pleasant surprise!!! Highly recommend this product and this seller.

Thanks for the evaluation. Great to know there is someone out there making standard rings available at a reasonable price

How long did the first set take to arrive? Debating whether to order a set for the future while they're available and so I won't need to wait on parts from Japan.

      Prothec,
The first set took ten(10) days to arrive.

There is one little GLITCH with this seller or perhaps with customs? The packages required a signature. Since we're not normally home when the mail arrives I had to go over to the post office to get the first set. I sent a note to the seller to send the second set without a signature requirement but they came that way again.

Luckily, the second set arrived on a Saturday and we were there to sign for them.

I don't know if the signature was required by the seller or by customs? It may be that the seller has no option in the matter?

I have a 73 mm flex hone that I used when I did my rings.

            Grit too!

You need to consider the grit size too.

I'll look tonight what size and grit I used.

You are welcome to borrow it.
