  • MikesXS Hawking Used Parts?

I ordered a bunch of parts from MikesXS a month or so ago, and just now got around to opening a few of them, including the plastic floats since I was reassembling my carbs.

Took the first float out and it looked a little dirty, and the tab had already been bent slightly!!

Longer story short two had a slight/decent amount of dirt/residue on them and all of the tangs had been bent. Now I am not sure if they come pre-bent but I doubt it! All but one have been undoubtedly used or at least attempted to be used before. On two of them it look like someone had but cutting at the plastic sides!!

I was very upset thinking that I was purchasing NEW parts. Especially at $12 a piece.

The order before this from MikesXS the taillight lens I ordered from him was chipped and he just said talk to UPS...

Wandering if anyone else has had similar issues with MikesXS. Am I just blowing this out of proportion? I feel like either telling "mike" to give me half off these ones (granting they still function) or he immediately sends me new ones...Woooo Saaww

If the parts are used he should replace them with new parts like you ordered or offer a discount if you agree to keep them. I myself have not had any issues with MikesXS. A friend of mind buys from him often for his 650 project as well with no reported problems. Someone may have pulled a fast one on a return. If you don't tell them they will not know there is a problem.

If they're used, you should see a wear mark spot on the tab where it pushed against the float valve needle. Just being a bit dirty and bent could come from sitting around for a long time in an open bin with a bunch of other stuff.

        Resolution

Well that is true Ken, and I was going to let it go until this morning (chalking it up to yesterday being a hard day at work) I went to just put them on and I noticed one had a puncture looking indentation on it. It may not have been all the way through but the others had similar wear in the exact same spot. These were just curiously nicked up and it made me feel very uncomfortable.

Mikes XS replied and said they never take returned floats so that could not be an option. They have new ones in the mail to me as we speak, and did not ask for the old ones back. They also politely directed me to use another website for my Yamaha needs.

I regret they perceive me as a problem, and I don't like to make a stir about things. I do not wish to scare anyone away from their business and doubt I will since they have successfully provided this community with parts for some time now.

MikesXS should be commended for their quick response and generous replacement....hope I don't need some coils anytime soon...

Ken this this thread may belong in the Product Eval forum. Forgive me.

          CA,

Bear in mind that if you stated you own an XS1100, they will not like selling you parts for something other than an XS650. They see their parts as for XS650 machines only!!
