i switched out my winter plugs on sat to the new e3 plugs. i did alot of research on line for hours looking for different plugs.
i thought the pulsestar ones looked neat but all the research shows they suck really bad. one site i think they were beamers??? or mini's i forgot which but they did a test over the course of about a year on the pulsestars and they got worse mileage and dyno'd with less power.
they then triedsthe e3's with great results. also alot of snowmobile guys have been using them. and hp tv did a segment on them... i know i know... they were probobly paid to make them look good but i found alot of other good info and only a couple of negative. i think most of the stuff that showed the most improvement were on carburated bikes. and fuel injected cars didn't show a ton of improvement only a few hp.
after installing them it cranked right up like always it did. however very quickly i had to put drop it out of the 2nd enrichment to the first almost 15-20 seconds i tihnk. normally this would be a min or so. and it only needed the 1st enrichment for about the same time. this was about 60 degree weather.
last night it was in the 40's and usually needs to run for a good couple of mins in the 2nd setting, same thing happened within 30 seconds the rpm's jumped to about 4k and i had to drop it. i didn't expect that at all. and it was ready to have the choke all the way off within about 2 mins. maybe a little less. also i noticed there is not as much pop on deceleration, all th other bikes i have owned popped some on deceleration because of unburnt gas but i think these plugs burn more of the gas.
i think as dumb as it sounds they are actually adding a little more material to the cc. the tips on these things are ginormous. a normal tip is what about 2 mm wide by 4 long or so???? these things are about 10x the size. so i think they are taking up alot of space in the chamber. plus the shape of the tip is supposed to help the kernal.
i don't know about the mpg though as i am still on the first tank. i will of course do several to see if it improves or not, also it feels like the throttle is a little quicker. but that could be just placebo... i doubt it though.
these were from advanced for about 6 bucks a plug, the e3 site lists a differnet part number for bikes (e3.34) but if you cross ref the bp6es plug you get an e3.46. they sell those at the stores. they work just fine in my bike. plus they last longer than copper plugs. i will keep you all updated.
