    If your gas gauge doesn't work, it's likely the regulator, found on the back of the tachrometer. To test the regultor, voltage from brown wire to ground should be 12 volts and the R/B wire to ground should be 7 volts. Since Yamaha doesn't sell the regulator any more, and they are hard to find and costly when you do, there is another option. Your local radio shack. For about $4.00, and a few minutes, using the information from the link below, you can make your own regulator. I did this yesterday and it works great. If you have any questions, drop me a line.
