    1979 1100SF grab bar measurements

Can anybody who has one let me know the measurements of the grab bar of a '79 SF please.

Struggling to find one, reading that lots of other people are searching for the same unicorn, wondering if it might be easier just to get one made.

There are a lot of angles on this thing. I can get you whatever dimensions you like but finding one for sale would be the best option.

I realise. The measurements to the brackets is really what I'm after. If I have a custom one made it won't necessarily precisely mimic the original and I will keep looking for an original in any case.

Here you go. 12.25" inside front slots. 7 1/4" inside rear slots. With the bar level the cl of the back of the slot on front of grab bar (close to where it was bolted according to ghost marks) 15/16" off desk. Cl of rear hole 7/16" off desk. 13 3/8" cl/cl hole to end of slot. Click image for larger version

Sorry I can't let this one go, my bike is a low mileage original and I'd like to keep all the parts together even though I've got it set up for a trunk currently.

Maybe you can see if a freebie 650 rail will work if the guy is willing to ship it overseas. He apparently is giving stuff away.

Your welcome, it was no big deal. If you need any more, please let me know. K&G made universal racks and backrests for years, maybe you can find one and take the saw to it to build what you want.

Quite an amazing discovery. But I tend to think that the difference is quite negligible.
