Hello all, I have been having my 1977 XS750 for close to a year now and for the first time yesterday I wanted to lock the front forks but try as I might no luck. The lock is on the left side of the frame neck not part of the ignition switch. Anyone knows how this thing works? Thanks

Then you probably have to turn the handlebars fully to the right, then try locking it. Some of the XJ's work like that. Be careful the bike doesn't tip over, you know how unstable it can be with the bars turned toward the right.2H7 (79) owned since '89

Must have been an addition, I just went to check and my 76 doesn't have a handlebar lock. My old hondas and kaw would lock full turn to the left and press down on the key when turning.
My 79 1100 locks to the left, ignition in off position, press down on the key then release that will allow you to then turn to lock position.1979 XS1100 Special
