  • Kawasaki Vulcan gas tank size

A friend of mine has a '96 Kawasaki Vulcan,>has had it since it was new. His third one. He says it has a
3 and half gallon gas tank capacity. He desperately wants to get
a larger tank capacity. Does anyone know if any of the other Vulcans may have had a different, larger capacity?

Or if any other Kawasaki models might be "bolt on"?

I should be able to answer this one seeing how I work at a Kawa dealership, but I can't.
Different Vulcans may have different tank sizes, but nothing says that they'll match to your frame, and it would be wrong for me to hazard a guess.
Go poke around the KZRIDER site... Mostly for Kawa KZ's, but someone there might know something that I don't.

He's got the "1500cc" engine. I was not thinking that there might
be different size engines with ..... maybe ........ different frames.

I'll check on that recommended site.

      I appreciate your info.

There is another option. Find a used take about the right size and shape then modify it to fit. You can hammer in clearence dents on the underside and weld on new mounting points.

          Geezer, you're right. That's a viable option.
That's what I did, with the Kawasaki Concours 7 & half gallon tank, that I have on my 81 XS11 Special. Shaped it underneath with a torch and different type hammers. 3 years ago. It took the place of a 3.9 gallon tank that was on the XS. I put XS "Standard" petcocks on both sides. The guy that has the Kawasaki Vulcan has commented a couple times, what a good looking tank, the Concours tank is, on my XS. Saw one on Ebay,
about a year ago for $25.

Many years ago I made a Kawasaki Z1 tank fit on a GT750 suzuki. However I wasn't after a larger tank, I wanted a less ugly one. ;o)
