Looks like you're right Marty. This is a post from the V-Max group.

    ________
Last weekend I went on a Bike Run with about 500 other bikes. It was
a benefit for A local boy. Anyways there were about 490 Harleys, 2
Vmax's and a few Jap Cruisers. Well I have never seen a bunch of
Harley Idiots stare at a bike like they did at my 2005 Vmax and my
buddies 2002 Vmax. Do Harley guys know what a Vmax is. I had a guy
with a V Rod tell me that Yamaha Built that bike to keep up with the
V Rod. I just about wet myself as I was laughing so hard I could not
stand it. He was not to happy with me. So after we made a few stops
at the check points on the run my friend and I took off. We both had
passengers on the back. They were safe with the Factory Back rests. I
had 3 Harley dudes pull along side of me at about 25 MPH. They were
just being pricks so I added some fuel to the fire, One of them
gunned it while the other 2 sat back by me and my Friend. I gunned it
and pulled a 2 foot wheelie from 30mph with a passenger. You should
have saw there FACES. Pure SHOCK. My friend gunned it and passed the
other guy like he was at a stand still. And we were off. Never saw
them the rest of that run. At the next stop I guy I have meet before
was talking with some other Harley boys as they were looking at our
Bikes. So I figured I would check out the discussion. Needless to say
they were quite interested in this Bad ASS Yamaha. So much so that
the one guy with the Brand new Street Rod V Rod wanted to drive it.
YA RIGHT. We wrapped up at the stop and got ready to take off. The V-
ROD gang pulled up and asked if we would like to Ride with them. I
smiled cause I knew what was going to happen and so did my friend.
Everyone had passengers on there bikes. Some were much bigger than
others but the odds were pretty much even. When we pulled out my
friend did the Biggest Burn out I have ever seen with a passenger on
the back. I was very impressed as were the other 300 people that saw
it. WOW I think he is getting a new back tire this week. After about
5 miles they started playing around with me. The guy that talked
stupid to me 2 stops ago pulled along side of me and said lets see
what that thing has. He gunned it. I dropped to 4th and hit it hard,
he had a small lead and it ended very quickly. I hit 110 before I
shifted to 5th and I could hear that loud bitch the (V ROD) on the
gas the entire time. He had that thing Pegged out. I walked past him
at 135 mph and never looked back. As was right behind me was my
    friend.

At the last stop they came up to me wallowing in defeat. I asked if
they wanted the phone number for the local Yamaha Dealer they said
nothing like I figured they would say.

In the end the V MAX made Bitches of the Harley V-Rod. I guess when
you think about it after 20 years at the top. I guess Vmax will
someday find some bike to give the Muscle Bike trophy to.
    But NOT that DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

LOL! I know what I am about to say may get me flamed on a yamaha board. But the Mighty V-65 Magna is also a force to be reckoned with, I rode one once and oh my god a V-4 is a nasty creation of an engine. I have never ridden a V Max. But being true to my brand I will buy an XS/Xj 1100.
