  • Talk me out of it

...and fast. Ebay auction ends in a week....
So... there is this basket case guzzi california III on ebay.
    http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...sPageName=WDVW
Ex police in a really sad state. Price is low (at the moment).
I can't really afford it, but I always bought bikes when I had no cash, so thats not gonna stop me. Even papers are questionable at best. If all goes well, I could sort em out in a year and a half, when all this europe crap laws come in effect.
So, here are the pros: I always wanted one of these. Newer models suck.
    Its cheap.
I fall for these kinds of wrecks. My eleven looked a bit worse. And in more pieces.
I had a guzzi and know what to expect
After it would be finished, it should look kinda like this:
    http://www.mgcn.nl/dameijer/html/1000caliii.htm
    only with carbs
Cons: My parents will kill me, my SWMBO will kill me and probbably most of my friends too.
I will have even less money, probbably owe some if I go thru with it.
    Parts are hard to get
I have no idea how I'm gonna fix the car for winter use.
The garage is gonna be a mess for couple of years... again.
Did I mention I was broke? I would spend more money on the bike than it's worth. And there is some stuff to sort out on 78E.

        Buy it.

when your parents or SWMBO kill you I will buy it and your 78 from your estate sale.

Sorry, no help for you, My wife expects me to buy bikes every year or so, and I expect her to be severely annoyed with me for about 6 months after each purchase. I am pretty sure that if she would like to find out how to block ebay on this computer.

Whichever way you go, best wishes.
I have a bike and I am not afraid to use it

Go ahead, buy it. Money you can get new ones and as for the SWMBO..... well, it's easier to get forgivness then permission.

I would leave it. 999 euros is what? £690? More than twice what I paid for my XJ1100 and I had that on the road, fully tested and taxed in under a month. I have all the legal paperwork (when the log book comes back including old test certs and the original U.S title papers.

Hell, I wouldn't ask £1000 for my bike even with just 7.5k miles on it and all the alloy polished/great tyres, brakes etc. Give it a miss unless you are a complete Guzzi fanatic is what I say

              I am... kinda.
A nice 1000 SP went for 1300 euro.
I probbably wont take it, but prices are way low now the ppl are on vacation. If it doesnt sell, I'll call the guy.
Prices for cali III in nice shape are around 3500 euro.
Anyway, I'll work on the XS some more, and maybe next year...

                    Ebay guzzi

                    Strom,

Looks like you are still alive then

Looked like it could take a while to get sorted.... sensible move.... but a hard one to pass up.

I passed the local Italian bike shop about 2 years ago and came back with something that looked like this

Doh!.... didn't mean to it just happened. SWMBO wasn't massively overwhelmed!

I know what you mean about ebay...... got a new rack for the Guzzi last night..... already have a rough one that would do...an can't really afford to buy too much bike related stuff at the moment... but what the hell
