Chain Adjustment single swingarm

While at the International Bike show, I noticed some of those new fangled models - BMW, Triumph, Ducati - have a single swingarm with a mono shock. I was wondering how the chain is tightened / adjusted. I asked one of the 'technical' guys with the name tag at the Triumph booth and he didn't know. He asked another guy and that guy mumbled something and quickly turned to some other visitor and asked them if he could do something for him. So I got down close and all I could see is a little decal with a Red / Yellow / Green indicator on the chain cover back near the rear axle. On the Red it says "Replace." Could not tell how to measure to get Red or Green, and I could not see any take-up or adjuster or anything.

So how do you adjust the chain on a single swing arm?

Marty not sure on this but i bet its set up to adjust by turning and locking 1 nut that is on an off centered cam. Wheel and axle are mounted to the swing arm with no movement allowed except ahead or back just a guess...................MITCH

On the Triumph the chain is on a sprocket that is on the axle that has no adjustment, the axle goes through the swing arm. I looked up and down both top and bottom of the chain and there was no take-up or wheel or guide that looked like it was adjustable. Basically it looked like there were two contact places, both ends of the gear.

HEY mitch Your guess is right on. Went to Mc Leans on Fri. to check out new bikes, saw a single swing arm with an adjustment just a you describe ( have to look close). Nice weather ???.. bkr
