    Hi John

Just to get back to the topic for a moment.
I got hold of a H*rley quickbob one piece tank, probably an after market item. I cut it in half welded a 4 1/2 strip in the middle so it would fit over the XS's twin top tubes, moved the petrol tap to the back of the tank, welded in a H*nda aircraft style flush cap and then coated the insides with petseal. The tank fits to standard XS mounts.
It probably only holds 3 1/2 imperial gallons, but shows what is possible.
    Triking - it's a way of life!

      Auxiliary tank

      Hi John
The Std tank hasta have the shape that you object to so it can carry a reasonable amount of fuel. If you must have the "look" of the Spl tank you are locked into it's pathetically small capacity.
Any tank that is significantly bigger simply can't look the way you want it to.
The spare Std tank that came with my XS11SG turned out to be rusted into holes here & there so I gave up on that fix and carry a 2 gallon jerrycan on the sidecar's luggage rack.
If you don't want to yield to the dark side and fit a sidecar an auxiliary gas tank is the way to go.
You can even get a 2 gallon cylindrical jobbie faked up to look like a bedroll to lash onto your sissy bar.
