  • Honda 750 Super Sport

I was just given an 82 Honda 750 SS that was up in my garage for a while. Anyway What is the model number? I thought it was a CB750F. I see parts for CB750F's on Ebay from about 79-83, did they not change the model designation every year like Yamaha?

    Honda ID Guide.

My Honda Identification Guide book lists all the 750Fs from 1975-82 as Super-Sports. Info as follows:

    CB750F'82 750 Super-Sport.
    Year Model: 1982
    Vin: JH2R040*CM300003-
    Product Code: MC3
    Engine: RC04E-230001-
    Color:Black Pleiades Silver Metallic
FT: Black unit:stripes are orange & red.
FT: Silver unit: stripes are black & blue.
    CH: Engine is black.

I wish I still had my '78 750F. It was the last of the SOHC models and that had a kick starter.

    I hope this is useful.

        Pat,

Thanks, that helps a lot. I thought the Super Sports had 4 valves per cylinder and the regular ones had two? Any truth to that?

        Later,

          Honda guide lists..

Looks like all the older (Pre '78) SOHC engines were 2 valve and the newer ('79 +) DOHC engines were 4 valve. The K models ('79-'82) are also listed as 4 valve.

Glad I put my book to use for you.

This is a kind of interesting bike, it was bored out to an 820 with a kit from MTC (Mighty tough components in Coco Beach FL) the PO got it and had a problem with the cam chain tensioner or chain and tore it down to fix and he figured he would get new rings while he was in there. So he put in STD honda rings (didn't know it was overbored by other PO) and had super low compression, so he tore it down again and then never bothered with it and sold it to my buddy for $300. We had to send the pistons to MTC to have new rings made, since they no longer made a kit. So he bought new rings had cylinder rehoned, bought head gasket and a bunch of other engine parts and now he says I can have it. Tank has a custom painting of a dwarf or something on it to...weird looking. Oh well just another project I guess. Body is in great shape, but needs brakes redone, new fork seals, etc, etc. Thanks again for the help.

Sounds interesting all right, I thought that stock these things were just fine, but everyone is different. not that it matters but the biggest difference between the bikes was the rear tire. THe C's ahd a 16", the K's had a 17" and the F's had an 18" tire.

My understanding is that most if not of all the engine parts swap between all 3 models from 79 to 82 or 83.
I have a bike and I am not afraid to use it
