Anyone ever own a Vision?

I stopped by the local Yamha/Honda place in town for some windshield cleaner (I use the Honda stuff) and they had a 1982 Yamaha Vision sitting in their used bike area. I've been looking for a commuter type bike, did some research on the Vision and it may do the job. Question is, has anyone on this list actually owned one? I'm looking for first-hand feedback if possible, plus comments on any known weaknesses.

My commute is about 60 miles a day, roughly 48 of that interstate at 65 - 75 mph, and I weigh in at 255.

Fot those of you who don't know this bike, it is a 550cc liquid-cooled, shaft-drive twin Yamaha produced in 1982 and 1983.

It's been awhile since I worked on one but as I recall they had bottom end problems. I'd avoid it like the plague.

Considering the distance you commute, I'd recommend staying with the XS11.

Strange vee twin with jerky power delivery, clunky gearbox and heavy clutch. Some engines okay, others leak coolant, eat valves, pistons and electrics. Handling dodgy on early bikes but wear will’ve made later ones as bad. Chassis rot will’ve killed off those few bikes that managed a high mileage. Definitely a mistake to try to run one on non-standard filters or exhaust, but even stock the carburation was poor.
