Hi, I would like to know if I could add a new halegen headlight to my xs1100e fairing. The mounting brackets are welded to the old headlight. Any ideas on how to install a brighter headlight.

That's strange. Every XS11 that has crossed my way has had a removable bulb from the lenz and reflector assembly. I just put in a brighter (85 watt) bulb.Originally posted by Terryxs1100E

My 78 had the sealed beam too. I bought a rectangular H4 type headlight from JCW and I found, as you did, that it is lacking mounting tabs like the original. I found a halogen H4 type on Ebay and am now using that. Keep an eye on Ebay, they turn up often.Pat Kelly

I've seen guys smash the glass out of the originals, cut a hole around where the bulb was with a die grinder then glue in an auto sealed beam with silicone sealer. This used to be common practice on the old Honda twins but I've never seen anyone try it on a rectangular headlight.Originally posted by Pat Kelly
