    Hi,
I entered my 100% restored 1980 XS850G in a local bike show this week-end, didn't win anything in my class "stock imports". Hell, I was against a 2001 Vulcan, a 2002 GoldWing, and a temp-tag Triumph! How can you compete with that? The only other comparable bikes in the class were a 75 CB500 and a 73 Goldwing, neither of which won anything.
It made me wonder if anyone on the list ever won anything they entered with their bike...
I'll just ride mine and not worry too much about getting it dirty from now on....

Back in '92 my 79 XS750SF took third place in the 750cc class. It was box stock at the time.

It did. Nice looking bike. Where did you find the bar to mount your driving lites on? Custom made, or store bought?

Might be able to fool the Harley riders into waving...

Thanks for the comments! the lightbar, well, it's a piece of oval section aluminum that came off a broom! It was anodized, I sanded it and polished it, drilled the various holes to run the wires inside and voila!
I don't care that much for the look of the extra lights, but the are definitely needed during daylight hours for the over 75 year old to see me better. cant run them too long though, it starts affecting the battery and ignition after a while...

                    nice looking bike

Thanks for all your nice comments. I guess it's better to be judged by your own peers, not a HD shop owner who puts up a show at the last minute...

Also since this was my first resto on a bike (maybe I'll post the "before" pix), it's rewarding...

                    Thanks!
