Nothing..is ever perfect.. so it is not a surprise to learn that the suspension on this bike is where they saved money and leaves some things to be desired. No doubt improvments can be made. Theres is a hint that RE will eventually have an upgraded suspension components...
This is all about the journey and less about the destination.....A lesson we all should heed...

When Mike Tatkow showed me his new Thruxton (he let me ride it too) he said yeah it's not bad but I need to change the springs, take out the oxygen sensor and about a half dozen other things he said where the bike was lacking. I thought to myself, the cost of all he wanted or thought he needed to do to make the bike right would be about the equivalent of buying the bike at twice what he paid for it.

I do like your Yamaha...its close to what i learned to ride back in the 70s' and it is a fine looking bike...
I could be equally as happy with owning that...

For me ...the Interceptor is preferable for a few reasons..1) its modern and requires little maintenence 2) looks totally retro...3) it harkens back to a time when things were less complicated. The Yamaha is nice but the R.E. is nicer..but then it does benefit from modern technology..while retaining its 1960's look...
This is the style of bike that I learned to ride street bikes on...Originally it was a mid '70s Yamaha parallel twin Heritage Special 650..that back in the mid 70s was considered to be a "big" bike to learn on...
I could be quite happy on an Interceptor...and it would look great in front of the IH...
