Anyone with any experience/advice on a 1982 Honda CBX, 43,000 miles? It's for sale in my neighborhood and I will have a look at it tomorrow. I know it needs TLC, one carb leaks, rear air shocks leak air, front brake lever stuck and not moving. What on these bikes is known to bad?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

By the way, the guy wants $1200 for it... Should I just bite the bullet and buy it now?...

If the price is right grab it. They are now collectors items. Obviously the present owner doesn't know. Straight, clean and running right they bring uowards of $5000. plus.
Watch out for rotten exhaust where the collector pipes connect to the muffler. If good the exhaust system if original is worth hundred's.)if perfect they go for $1000.00) Another weak point is the alternator drive. The alternator is driven by a clutch arrangement meant to slip slightly while the revs accelerate and decelaerate. It is to protect the alternator from self destructing because the accelerating forces are so abrupt. Most parts are still available.
Check out on the net. There are several sites. The best I think is CBX International.

Well, i took a look at it with checklist in hands, it needs a lot of TLC, from cracked paint to leaking oil for tensioner, leaky forks, stuck master cylinders, rusty hardware, and rusty headers. The guy just let it sit out in the open, not running for almost 2 years, what a shame...
Not going to spend the time or money on it... Better off finding a decent XS1100.
