removing headlight from vetter faring

I've got a 1978 Yamaha xs750. I am removing the Vetter Windjammer faring. I got the faring off but I can't get the headlight out of it. I don't want to break anything but I can't seem to see how to remove it peacefully. Also the headlight bucket is still on the bike, does anyone know if the chrome ring from the windhjammer, will fit that bucket? Now since removing the windjammer I won't have turn signals. I saw some on ebay but I don't know how they mount up. Do the just mount where the headlight bucket bolts go? Thanks for any help.

The Vetter headlight ring will not fit the XS bucket. You will need to find one. On my XJ the turn lights do mount on the headlight bucket, not sure if all XS models are the same. I have a couple bolts in the holes now to keep the bucket in place with the Vetter mounted. Make sure you get the 3-wire front turn signals. The wires are for running, turn, and ground. Rear lights have only 1 wire for turn light and are grounded through the light stem to the frame of the bike.

Check Craig Vetter.com for the proper removal procedures. IIRC, he recommends that you stick a flat screwdriver up to push the tab...good luck!
