  • Honda CBX 1000

OK... I got a little bet going.... case of beer kinda thing

    So, the question is:
Which year was Honda CBX 1000 (CB1) made avaliable for general public. I don't mean test models etc... but a guy like probbably you and me could walk into a shop, and come out with a brand new CBX 1000.

    Was it:

    1978

    or

    1979

Any supportive web links greatly appretiated.

If it doesn't have an engine, it's not a sport, it's only a game.

    CBX

Strom, I bought the first CBX sold in Canada. It was on June 20th, 1978. It was released and licensed as a 1979. Silver metallic, loved it. Put about 120,000km on it. Sold it late in the summer of 1981 and bought a 1981 CBX-B. One fitted with beautiful factory faring and fitted bags. Sold it in 1991.
Now sorry I ever sold either one of them,. They are worth about double what they sold for brand new.

I uncrated and assembled the first CBX to come through Northwest Honda in Portland, Oregon. That was in September 1978 and the frame plate had "1979 model" on it in large letters.
