          Success!

          Yep!

The SmugMug link worked ... thanks, Ben.

To my eyes, the old "naked" Wings have a certain appeal ... and this one is a very nice example!

Thanks folks. I bought this Gl1000 because I used to have two of them briefly in the 1980's. I didn't realise why I'd got rid of them until I reminded myself by renovating this one and then riding it. To be honest, it's like sitting on top of a car rather than riding a bike. I do love the looks of the original plain Jane GL's but it's not my kind of bike to ride. Still, it was fun to restore and I sold it for $8,000 which financed the next XS11.

The water cooling on these old GL's can be a pain and the carbs are a nightmare!

Nice job re-storing James! I seem to remember a necessary engine removal in order to access the alternator on those scoots. Fully factory dressed would of been my choice 'back in the day', but it handled cornering WAY more poorly than the Venturer did. It also couldn't 'hold a candle' to the straight-line power of the XS, so, wa'la, the Venturer it was,(and still is today)
