    (NOT MY BIKE)

Being a 2nd Gen. Venture, this Yamaha has had the issues common to the 1st. Gen. addressed (2nd gear failure, stator failure)

    Here is the listing:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-Other...m=262098834451

This is a NO RESERVE auction, the bike is located in Iowa, mileage is just over 40-thou, and the current bid is $1,136.00 ...

Time will tell how high bidding will go, but this could end up being a really good buy for someone here looking for a full-on touring rig.

    Nice one Marco

This generation 2 Venture did not have the 2nd gear issues...1983-1985 1st generation 1200s had 2nd gear isuues...1986- 2nd gen..1300s 2nd gear isuue was fixed...this is a real nice machine...expect to see it sell in the $2500-$3000 range...
    Sweet...

      Hey, Ben ...

Yeah, that's what I was trying to say at the beginning of my post ... maybe I should have been clearer.

But I agree, this looks like a very nice Venture ...

      Maybe something you would consider?

I have considered them Marco...for the money these represent some of the best touring bikes you can buy....these were way better than the Goldwings from the same era...especially in the engine displacement and performance...I would love to own one even though the thought of straddling a 950 lb bike at my age is some what daunting...I could never wrap my head around piloting a bike of this size...but i would love to take one out for a nice demo ride...never have

Actually, the wet weight of a 2nd Gen. Venture was just under 800 lbs.

But fully loaded with gear, etc. (passenger, maybe?) ... you're right, it would be a considerable amount of weight to muscle around.

I did have a chance to ride one on a couple of occasions, and I remember that once rolling, the weight was a lot less noticeable.

That's typical of some big touring rigs, but not all ...

That’s a clean original looking Venture, if it is as good as it looks it’s a deal for someone. I put 115,000 miles one just like it.

                    Well ...

This auction was supposed to end this Saturday.

Instead the listing was ended by the seller yesterday afternoon ... the bike must have sold locally.

                              Tom,

                              See post #10 ...

The auction was supposed to end Oct. 24, but ended 3 days early on the 21st.

The seller ended the auction early because "the item is no longer available", which probably means it was sold locally.

No way to know how much it sold for ...
