The first XS650 was the XS-1 in 1970.

    XS-1B for 1971.

The 1972 XS-2 introduced and electric starter and a disc brake.

For 1973, the designation changed to TX650.

Then TX650A. New wheels for that one. Pipes are not correct on this bike.

Then came the XS650B. The first one designated XS650.

More than you wanted to know, right? These bikes are becoming quite collectible. The first three wear the XS650 badge. OHC650 for 1973. 1975 gets "ELECTRIC".

BTW, I can't view the ADV site as I'm not a member.

It's a bargain. I would expect it to bring at least $4500 on eBay and maybe considerably more.

I have totally overlooked these bikes although a 1975 XS650 was the first street bike that I learned to ride on...it didnt look anything like the above shown bikes. The owner of the bike tricked it out...basically bastardizing it into a 60's esque styled chopper...envision if you will a really extended front fork,,,king/queen bananna seat with a highback sissy bar...chopped mufflers and a trigger clutch...with NO friction point....it was fun learning to launch that the right way...

This is more like it...although not finished as nicely as this ... I never owned one of these but my roomate in college had the bike...he let me learn to ride it and then use it too...good memories..back in the day when no MC endorsement ..no required insurance and no helmet laws...and growing up in Arizona too...the learning curve on that bike was steep...

I used to race and work on these 650's twins back in the 70's.
A lot of low end torque.

My 76 had a really tall first gear and it took a little practice to take off smoothly. The XS11 is a lot easier to get a smooth start with.

I test rode one that was built like this but was red/white & blue with FAST EDDIE signed on the tank. I thought that very special till I learned there are many people that call themselves fast eddie. It was a very well built bike, XS2 base and on the test ride I had to drive until I found a 4 way intersection just turn around to get it back to his place. No I did not buy it, fun to look at, hard to get used to.
