Luckily, on the RS the system is only a partially linked system unlike the RT which is fully linked. I'll just have to learn to use the brake pedal. I might just remove the whole system. I'll lose ABS, but it might be worth the trade. That, or I could brake my bad habit....
I agree, Beemers have touchy brakes.
I didn't know that there were differences between the RS/RT. Interesting!

I was totally used to the linked brake system on my Maxim, never had a problem.

Bought this Concours 14, it also has linked brakes. It's a programmable system, though. 2 setting choices. One is called "aggressive"... and they aren't kidding!
Connie's suffer from stock front brake rotors that warp easily. Mine did at 3,000 miles. Cody's '08 did the same thing, and it's discussed a lot on COG.
I had to change my braking habits, too. I was used to primarily using my front brakes, then adding the rear pedal just before the stop. I will still do that when I ride twisties, but on straight stops, I now do the opposite. Braking this way has eliminated the warped pulsation, and helps me live with it.

I sure like ABS and traction control! I'd have to really think long and hard before ditching either system.

You might try braking like I've had to. Might make it better?

Nice looking beemer! I like the color as well Ask Cody about silver BMW's.... The 1200RT I own has most of the things the 1150's did. I also put on crash bars and pegs on those. I think the brakes are a little different on the newer models, as the only thing I notice is a pulsing in the pedal when I brake hard. The lever for the front does NOT pulse, but I know the brakes are linked.
The BMWRT board is a pretty good place for info on the bikes.

Thanks Ray! I don't have a problem with linked brakes, in fact I think it's a good system. My problem is with the servo assist system which was available I think from 02-06. It's just going to take some getting used to at slow speed. It's also very difficult to service.
