I use an automatic center punch to remove the float pins. Your nearest hardware store should have it.

      Stuck Pilot Jets

The trunk looks out of place and makes the bike cover a pain to put on and off. It's removed but I'll keep it around. The backrest will be gone soon as well. I'd like to keep the guards and aux lights, though. I like the idea of extra lumens. The coin holder is definitely staying! Unfortunately, it looks like my gut is also staying.

I'm excited to hear this bike run. It's such a small displacement motor to be a 4 cyl. I'm hoping it sounds something like a F1 car. I haven't tried to start her yet. So far, I've checked the valves and they are all within spec. I've cleaned the carbs the best I can without soaking them in chemdip, and I've replaced most of the o-rings. I still have to "air tight" the air box, get new brake lines, new tires, and a new battery.

The float pins are being a pain. I'm trying to decide on how to get them out. The eleven carbs were easy to do but these bs32's pins won't cooperate. I've seen people use filed down dykes with success but I don't want to go that route. I read on another forum people are using spring loaded center punches to get them out (the "easy" way). Can anyone comment on this method? What size punch would I need (the pin looks the same as the 11)?

The pilot screws are also causing some problems. They won't budge. I pulled the plugs myself so the screws should be within spec but I want them out. I've decided I won't dip the carbs until I've found proper replacements for the pilot screws. I know I will bugger them up on removal. I already have a m6 .50 flat bottom tap on order to clean up those threads.

Greg, do you still have the link handy for the Vetter lowers hardware? It would be much appreciated.

Thank you, Marty. Pm will be sent soon.
Stuck pilot jets is a common occurrence. I have used a propane torch to heat the area around the pilot jet. This method works well. Does not take a lot of heat.

Looking back at your pics it looks like the inserts are already in there. Just missing the SS screws.

Greg, your right, the nylon inserts are there. It's just a matter of screws? Awesome! Thanks for the link.

Thank you Marty for the service manual. It will definitely come in handy.

The center punch worked so well, it was shocking! I hit it once and nothing... I adjusted my tension and tried again. That pin went flying. I adjusted the tension one more time and it worked like a charm.

I managed to get the mixture screws out, too. I let them soak in pb blaster, boiled them for a while, then proceeded to mangle all 4 of them. I was about to use an easy out when I stumbled across a tip on a gs forum. I pulled out my handy dremmel wheel and cut the mixture tower deep enough to groove the screw. Using this method, I was able to salvage each screw, even though they were already boogered.

With the carbs fully dismantled, I chem dipped those buggers. That stuff didn't work. I put a little pinesol in my h.f. ultrasonic cleaner, filled the rest with water, let it heat up, and dropped my carbs in one at a time. The pinesol (and little elbow grease) has my carbs shining like new again and my house smells like a Christmas tree! The grease came off almost instantly to reveal all sorts of anodized metal! I even threw in a bunch of dirty stainless hardware that came out good as new. Pinesol might be my new best friend.

Those inserts should be rubber with a brass nut molded inside. I have a set on my bike. When I get a chance today I'll get you the screw size and thread and you can run to the hardware store and get some SS screws and nylon flat washers.

Yes, rubber. Thank you, when I saw that $35 price tag my butthole puckered a little bit.
