  • Wife lost a cylinder

Yesterday was my birthday. I got some clothes (much needed). Wife boght a motorcycle, for herself.

1996 Yamaha XV1100 Virago. 32,000 miles and in immaculate shape. Not a ding or scratch, no oil seeping, nothing needing to be fixed, been garaged all it's life. It was for sale but not advertized, just word of mouth.

Her 79 XS750F is probably going to go to her brother as payment for helping us for our room addition project we are undertaking.

On the downside (besides her getting a newbike on MY birthday) I put her XV on the centerstand, I set my XS1100 on the centerstand all the time no problem. I was amazed at how easily it popped up. I called her out to show her and have her try it. When I went to put it up the 2nd time I tore my right calf muscle. Went to the hospital ER (where she and I work) and spent a few hours. Looks like I'm off work for 2 (more) days. Wednesday was my 1st day back after 2 weeks off from having surgery.

    Ain't life grand?

One plus is that working at the hospital, I walk in the back door by-passing the waiting room (I do feel guilty about that). At 8pm the wait to be seen is usually around 4 hours, sometimes longer.
There have been occasions when I'd do a "double-back". People just walking in as I was leaving were still waiting to be seen when I came back 8 hours later. Life in a county hospital. Sad note is that us taxpayers are paying for these people with their sniffles. I see a very low percentage of "emergencies" in our emergency room tho we are a major trauma center.
One Sunday morning last month we had one patient, only one in the whole ER. ½ hour later someone came in that was 101 years old. Impressive till 10 minutes later a 106 year old patient came in. The next patient was a "kid", only 91.
After 3 years working there I've seen it all and still something new happens every day.

        Oops, I made a mistake

I listed SWMOB's new Viragos milage as 36,000 miles. I looked closer today......
