My 83 Yamaha 400 Seca had running issues at WOT. It revolves around the main jets. I almost have it right, just need a few more jets.
Part of the problem is the air box. The RH side holds the battery which makes the space on that side smaller. So Yamaha runs a smaller main jet on that side. The other problem is installing the boots from the diaphragm Mikunis to the air box. It is rather difficult and not helped by a slight misalignment.
So: I can cut out the front area of the air box and install two K&N filters. Then I could use the same size jets in both carbs.
My question for those that use K&N filters.
Did it require a change in the main jetting?
