What year & size is this

I know it's a Yamaha. Picked it up for 300! It does start and dies. there's a linkage next to the kick starter, any ideal what it does? It does not move freely as I think it might but I would like to do is to get it runnin right but I have no ideal what year and size to get a manual.
Any help from the good folks here would be great.

looks kinda like an old 250 Enduro. The VIN should be stamped in the steering head. You can find out the year, the engine CC should be stamped or molded into the engine case somewhere.

If that's a 250 Enduro, they were real runners.

I believe that linkage is the clutch, it should be spring loaded and not easy to move. Carb is probably gummed up. Clean it out.

the vin is 3y0-002914 and the cc is 1300 yet I can't find anything out there on the www? and thanks for the fast response.

I think the 1300cc is the oil capacity.
