  • Another sled

Well, I got another sled for the stable. 1997 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500. Great friend stopped riding for health reasons, and passed this awesome hoss to me for a song. Never owned a big twin before, should be fun!

So, that brings my inventory to three: 1973 Honda CB750, 1981 Yamaha XS1100, and 1997 Kawasaki Vulcan. Total combined purchase prices: under $2K. There's an old phrase: you get what you wait for.

Red, the pipes do sound great. Brent, You are right, it is growing on me. However, there is absolutely zero comparison with the XS. The speed, handling, and a variety of riding positions will keep me on the XS. The Vulcan gets points for looking cool.

          a lot of bantor

about v twins in general especially of the Harley variety, however they have their merits. When you want to just get out on the road and cruise they are great. I love both of my bikes and depending on my mood or where I am going dictates which one I get on. I would strongly recommend a windshield and a front fender. Bike looks good though and I bet runs strong and smooth.

            Hi, Mike -

Congratulations! Looks like a nice Vulcan ... V-twins are nice for some relaxed cruising.

I agree with cajun31's recommendation about the front fender, though.

Say, is that the factory color with the skull and crossbones added, or is it a complete custom paint job? I like the GREEN!

Could be a repaint of original color......I know that Roo's(bobber) 1500 Nomad is that color.

Title lists green as color. Crossbones etc added by PO, but I took off. I have the front fender, but I like the look without. As I just ride this one around town, I'm going to leave it off.

                  Hi Mike,
while a friend will give a frail buddy's bike a good home a true biker friend would help him hang a sidecar on it and stay riding.
