  • just a quick Q

Just curious, would anyone happen to know why:
When I go to start my bike cold (not super cold, it's nice outside) I don't use choke, and it starts right up with no throttle. But after I ride a while and try to start it up again, I have to give it a little throttle to start.

      Quick Q

This is a normal condition with any carbureted engine. When you shut off a hot engine, the gas in the carburetors can actually get hot enough to boil. This causes a rich condition in the cylinders/manifold, etc. Not talking about a lot of fuel. Next time you start the engine it needs air (from opening the throttle) to restart.

All of the XS11s that I have had experience with do this. All other vehicles - 4 wheelers, cars and trucks, etc. - same scenario.
