I've seen worse...I can't believe he used clubman bars and the original fender though. Says all this stuff about a custom tank, bobbed frame, etc but can't weld a set of decent handlebars or replace the headlight bulb????78 E - 2to1 exhaust, dynatek coils, special headlight [SOLD!]

Enough to make me cringe. It's why I hate to read here of people hacking XS1100's to do grotesque things to them before selling them on as "one of a kind".
Whoever has done that to this bike has devalued it seriously and ruined a classic bike!XS1100F 1980 European model. Standard. Dyna coils. Iridium plugs. XS750 final drive (sometimes). looks like that tank will hold just about enough gas for 5 - 10 minutes of riding.

I look past all of the saw-zall stuff and find the foot-operated clutch interesting. I've seen the Jesse James shows, etc. that had suicide-shifters, but the clutch handle was always on the shifter. Thinking about how much I shift my bike while riding, your laft hand would almost always be on that shifter except during cruising where I live. No thank you.1979 XS1100F

Yeah, this one is a particularly nasty butcher job. It appears the 'triangulation' braces for the swingarm are attached the centerstand mounts so you have to wonder how long it will take to rip those off the frame. And look carefully at the 'shifter'; upshifts should be no problem, but how do you downshift?
I will give a few points for not removing the front brake....

This one will be a total restore, as most of the parts to complete her are on the shelf waiting on me.
The guy I bought it from, told me he never had time to make a bobber out of it.

Hi Schming! I looks like yours is wearing a Special seat.
The one in the foreground was destined to be a chopper. It languished in a basement for many years. It has only 6K miles on it. It's an SH.Marty (in Mississippi)

I don't know what the seat was from but it wasn't a Yamaha. It got pitched into the trash, as I have two original '77D seats on the shelf.
As my sig states, on my way to work one day, I noticed the front wheel sticking out of a tarp, in one of those hillbilly yards filled with treasure.
I couldn't get an answer at the door so I left a note, and the next week I left another note, and a couple days after the third note the guy finally called me to meet.
PO said it ran when he parked it, a year before I bought it, and it had a title.
Best $100.00 I ever spent.
