The bike is grabbing bad reviews for it's soft suspension and brakes. Nice bike & triple engine for an FZ-8 replacement. I'd rather drop $8k on something used with ABS and a stiffer suspension.1979 XS1100F

At that price you'd be better off going with a R1. The triple in that FZ would be ridiculously fun though, I've never had a bad time on a triple.
I could definitely see it having mushy suspension since Yamaha's sport-ier line of power sports has seen it's fair share of sub-standard performance in that department in favor of more power.78 E - 2to1 exhaust, dynatek coils, special headlight [SOLD!]

Getting good almost rave reviews from what I am reading. The soft suspension can be fixed, same with the brakes. Guys modify their bikes no matter how good or bad they are.
Good power, good weight, good price. Make a few mods if you like. Many riders may just leave it the way it comes. Lots of reviews have an eye to how the bike would perform at the track. They may be valid points. But most of these modern bikes are more than capable of excessive speed, good enough handling and brakes for street use.
My SV1000S is a good example of the above. Apparently it does not compare with a $20,000 race prepared Aprilia, Ducati or whatever.
But at half the price to buy, a fraction to maintain, it does the job for me.
