  • Might have found myself another project.. 1976 Hondamatic

    Looks like a mini Excelsior

I asked what its issues were

"I do not know what the culprit is. I will tell you that it ran fine back in 91. Then my grandfather decided to quit riding and it has been stored under a cover in his carport since then. I have felt compression and the engine definitely has gunk in it. This bike is definitely a project. So if that's what your are looking for your probably in the right place. Let me know if your still interested. "

    Hi sparkfly'
if it's a bargain, go for it!
The automatic shift sucks up the power but makes them a favorite with (whatever the latest PC term is for "crippled") riders.
So if you can get it back on the road there's always a market for a runner.

        Auto

They were actually a neat bike when new. I only ever sold one of them, and coincidently it was blue like that one. The dealers thought the auto was a good idea, but the bike purchasers did not agree.

Yeah I was going to tell you to avoid at all costs.
Mainly because they have so limited parts availability that it's just not worth it.
They had way too many parts made just fo that specific model and because of the automatic there were no replacements given.

The carbs are specific to that model of bike for one thing as were the carb boots.

I had a local shop that bought one cheap and was a total pain trying to find anything.

If you think XS11's are difficult try finding anything for a Hondamatic.
