  • Honda's new V 4 based Tourer

Honda's CTX1300 uses the same engine as the current V4 in the ST1300...The ST1300 is over 10 model yrs old and has yet to be updated as a sport tourer,,,in the meantime this comes out...I kind of like it but then its not what i'd really want...

It's 100 lbs lighter that the Valkyrie Tob posted up and it runs 160 - 180 HP.

      That's what I'm talking about!

Hmmm... All the looks of a fairing without actually getting any benefit from one.
Try your hardest to be the kind of person your dog thinks you are.

You can live to be 100, as long as you give up everything that would make you want to live to be 100!

no doubt there will be aftermarket windscreens that will add some real protection...they are doing it for the other new hondas as well...what i like is that V4 motor which is the same one in the ST1300...but in that bike you only see the valve covers as the rest of it is shrouded in tupperware...this bike has some cajon'es...Honda V4s are awesome motors...smooth,torquey and seamless...same as my ST1100
BTW Greg I dont think this engine is 160 -180 HP...more likely to be around 120hp tops ;-)

I owned an ST1300 for a year or so, it was a gem of a V4 in that bike. About 112 hp at the rear wheel and 85 ft/lbs down around 3K rpm.

Tons of grunt everywhere and a great pull to the top given the same redline of 8500 rpm as our XS's. Easily got mid/high 40's to low 50 mpg doing most anything.

Anyway, I think it's a great motor and if they have tuned it more to the bottom end and mid range than the ST1300, it'll be a strong runner.

The cost is the main factor to my mind, when you can get a C14 or FJR for similar $$...

BTW, ZRX carbs have the same spacing as the XS11... http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35462

Had a chance to ride an ST1300 a few years ago - silky smooth and torquey powerplant ...

Call me old-fashioned, but to my eyes, the ST is much more pleasing to look at than the new CTX. JMHO ...

Nice ... that '01 has one of my favorite Honda colors - didn't they call that color Candy Wineberry Red?

It would look great on an Eleven!

I do believe thats correct the '95 is Pure pearl red....a color that initially i didnt like but I learned to love it. As I am getting older my taste for LD riding is waning and for the mission...my '79 XS1100 fills the bill nicely...The ST is going up on the sales block soon.. economics ya know...
