Restoring a Reading Service utility Body

    Can this

    http://www.duplicolor.com/products/truckBedCoating/

Be topcoated with PPG MBCA-01 I believe it is an Acrylic base coat.

On the can of duplicolor it does say paintable.

    TIA

It is hard to paint things that are flexible like that.

I don't remember the brand but we used to have the bottom quarter our fleet pickups and trucks coated with a custom colored bed liner. Could look Into that. I know they do sell bed liner in lots of colors.

      Thanks Nate:

I already removed the doors and painted the truck. I read the can which said it could be painted and ran with it.
I was thinking how much I hate when the rust spots surface around the door mounting holes.
The bed liner would make a good durable surface. I negleted to check out the particulars.

Hard in what respect? I did a light coat it does not have a great deal of texture. My main concern would be compatability of the two paints. As long as the finish covers I'm good.

      TIA

I guess you need it to be another color than black.

I can say I used that same Duplicolor product on my front bumper and grill guard for my 2500HD ten years ago. I used a Herculiner product on my headache rack I welded.

The Herculiner product has faded to a greyish black and peeled a bit in some impact areas ( I tie stuff down to the rack).

The Duplicolor looks same as day it was painted. No cracks, peels, fading other than a couple of stone chips but that isnt really the paints fault.

          Tough stuff for sure.

Good to know it is strong as that is my main concern. If I have to leave it black it would not be the end of the world. I can still paint the doors white.
The paint guy at the auto parts store will be in tomorrow maybe he will know. I guess I'll have to close shop till then.
