Maybe I'm just getting old but I don't see a good reason to have a bike with that much HP.

a casket on wheels, during open street night at indianapolis raceway park last summer i watch a guy on a hayabusa pull the front end up in second and flopped his feet off the pegs. he got control got back in it and still turned 159 in the 1/4 mile under 10 seconds. his best run that night was 161 mph

A friend of mine has one and he took me for a ride , That was the first and last time on one for me. Im 235 lbs and on the back he decides to pass a car at 80 mph and pulls the front wheel way up not just a couple of inches mind you !! I had to check my pants for lumps, needless to say i wont get back on with him. Fastest thing i have ever been on . Two words " DEATH WISH "..................

I am only 38 so I'm a yung'un on this site but I agree with the idea that a bike can be too much for the highway. Busas are just too much. I say to each their own, but I would be careful.

My dad used to always say... "There are bold bikers, and there are old bikers. But there are no old bold bikers".

As with any motorsport, as HP, acceleration and top speed increase..... so does the risk to the rider...... and the 'Busa is at the top of the heap when it comes to bikes. I don't see a whole lot of point in owning a bike that fast unless you intend to race it. The urge to let the bike perform while driving in situations that can be potentially dangerous even at posted speed limits is too great.

One thing I LOVE about the XS is the CV carbs that don't allow us to overthrottle the bikes and let them get out of control. Kind of reminds me of my best friends son who went snowmobiling for the first time a couple years ago. He got bounced pretty hard on a bump lost his grip on the bars..... and instictively scrambled for a new grip. Problem was that he also grabbed a handfull of the thumb throttle and launched the sled off the raised edge of the trail.... literally hanging the sled in a tree, the ski loop hooked on a branch.

I've seen many bullet bikers get squirrely and nearly lose it when they underestimated their machines power.

these are all good thoughts. thanks. I do not intend to ride itfor pleasure,That would be the race bike.Ive been drag racing my xj for far to long it needs the comfort of a hiway ride long trips to the store and just basic transportation. Again thanksfor the insite.

I like the way the bike sits.A bike like that would go through tires like crazy and everybody you would meet would be wanting to race you.I tell you what I wouldn`t turn one down but everybody knows these bikes will run.I like something that doesn`t look like it will run but does. Keep the rubber side down

That's why I like my XS. When I 1st got it running it looked like crap. Rusty chrome, oxidized paint, and dull corodded aluminum. First bike I ran against was a 600cc Ninja. He split lanes and pulled next to me, looked at my XS and sneered. Opposing light turned yellow and he started revving. We saw green and he shot off. 100 yards later I torqued past him and left him in the dust. At the next light he pulled up and asked what the hell kind of bike was I riding, he'd never been beat by a touring bike before. I told him it was a Yamaha that was older than he was.

I have gotten a big kick pulling something like that on other people,those dodos driving those sport cars for one.They see that bike of mine and they think it`s a stone.People overlook these bikes because of age or they just don`t know bikes.Now here is a sick fantasy,the Suzuki engine in a xs but fix it so it looks like a stock xs.That would open some eyes! EVERYBODY WOULD WANT ONE, ok I had this strange dream. Keep the rubberside down.

I think they were banned in germany, too many riders splattered on tunnel entrances..

Kawa ZZ-R 1200 (and 1100).... tried both of em. The 1200 has more torque in the lower revs, maybe a bit too much for the slippery road I was on... didn't have the guts to open her up. The fact that it was the first test bike here maybe helped. The 1100 is... more civilised till 5-6k rpm is on the clock... a bit long wheelbase tho, but a nice bike to ride. Bout 50 mpg and a 24 or 26 l gas tank.
Yamaha... hmm.... FJR 1300.... didn't ride it, but looks too much touring, too little sport. Too expencive, good looks.
OK, this isn't in the same class... but I like it anyway... Moto Guzzi Centauro with that little mask in front... drool drool...

A friend of mine brought up a good point.He said youd be trying to hard to ride the bike comfortably.Reason being that bike IS dangerously quick. You cant take off at much above idle,two reasons 1 spin the tire to smoke or 2 flip it over on your back. That bike will pull the front end with absolutly no effort. So in essence you would be spending time to keep it right side up when you could be enjoying a beautiful day on your xs-j instead.
