They really did, the Yamaha RD's had were Reed valve motors and could hold their own against the Kawasaki H2's. My buddy has a RD and I was picking on him and shown him a H2 750 that came up for sale. He showed me an article about the RD 350's beating out the H2!Here's the same model, but with only 1 MILE ON IT!
