  • XS750 Cafe=FUN!

    I built this little cafe to sell, but I'm having a hard time letting go of it. I'm having waaaay too much fun zipping around and jamming through the twisties. I should put it up for sale a month ago but I keep procrastinating.





    I'm making a new side-mount license plate holder to clean up the lines of the tailpiece.





    The lil' XS has an electric boot and starts nicely with the button, no prob. But I love using the kickstart function. Two kicks cold and one when warm. The sound of a motor firing up with out the clash and whine of a starter motor is magical. And the wail of three cylinders at full chat makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up!

    Big XS, little XS - they're all fun...

      Cant say i like the Cafe style, (on any bike, not just yours) but I hear you on the exhaust note. Ive had two of them and both had 3 into 1's on them. Absolutley love that sound.

        Thanks for the props, gentlemen. That old triple sounds cool at speed. Gotta love it!



        I sure had a good time building the tailpiece and seat. Learned a lot and I'm putting those newly learned skills to work on a new old bike. Can't wait to finish and post up some pics for y'all to critique. I cut up a gas tank from a Yammy R1 to make a fairing and tailpiece. We'll see how this one turns out...

          How did u build the tail? Sheet metal and welding or fiberglass?

            I used some 22 ga steel I recycled from a discarded closet door. Bent it over my knee, cut a piece for the bottom and welded 'er up. I own some wrenches and files, tin snips, a hand drill, an angle grinder and a MIG welder. Don't even have a vise! Just gotta be creative at times. Makes it fun...

              Now that's the best looking old metal door I've ever seen! Mine would need a touch bigger seat for the occasional 2nd person, but I really like your handiwork nonetheless!

                  That is the Supertrapp muffler. If ya look closely you can see that there is a stack of thin plates in front of the red endcap. The plates are held about an eighth of an inch apart and this is where the exhaust gases exit the pipe.

                  You can tune yer exhaust to the motor, carb, and riding style by adding or removing the plates. Not a bad exhaust system.

                    True that. They've been around for years. I had one on an XT500 years ago, worked bloody well.

                          Where's the pic's

                          Interesting thread, but disappointed by the photo's that have been taken down. I am very interested in a 750 triple. My XS11 recently burned up (see Idle Talk Forum.) Love the sound. What else is good about them?

                          My recently re-built, hopped up '79 Special caught fire and burned everything from the top of the engine up: gas tank, wiring, seat, & melted my windshield all over the front of the bike. Just bought a 1980 Special that has been non oped for 9 years. My Skoot will rise from the ashes and be re named "The Phoenix!"
