  • DIY: Apple G5 Tail Trunk

So the place that I work was going to throw this out and I asked them to let me gut it and repurpose it. After spitballing with coworkers for the majority of the afternoon, I decided that I will turn it into a tail trunk. I'm sure I'll figure out the details as I go along, but I think it's going to be really great.

It's already got a lid that I can lock and a grill through which I can make an enormous modified brake light.

Any ideas or insight are welcome. What do you think?

I am a rhinoceros and my skin is three feet thick.

I think a moving LED array (think Knight Rider) would look swift.

Be sure you can backlight the Apple logo if possible -

Might be a tad heavy - cut away all needless framing material.

    Sounds like harmless fun.

That was my first thought. The trunk, PLUS all the contents should be less than 20 lbs, or the frame you mount it to may crack.

Might put a little hydraulic dampener on the lid to hold it open, then install a small key lock to keep it shut.

yeah, you could rivet a piano hinge for that lid, and use a small toolbox lock and key....
