  • Honda prototype Can Am bike has been located

The Honda 3 wheel sport bike prototype has been located. Early sales were disappointing. Can Am on the other hand took the idea and ran with it adding some much needed styling improvements at the sake of not providing seating for 4.

      What a WASTE

Man, talk about a waste of a decent looking and prolly nice riding Goldwing??
He states it'd prolly be great for being in a parade... I can just see this thing loaded to the gills with clowns and when they stop they could all pile-out of the thing and you could see how many were in that contraption...
All I ever heard of people who've been on two wheels all their life was that if they got on a Can-Am, they couldn't get back to their two-wheeler fast enough to get away from it...
I did a test ride of a Goldwing trike at a trike shop when I was thinking about possibly triking my 1st GL1800 I owned 11 years ago...I was the same way as far as I couldn't get back to the shop fast enough to get off it and back on my GL18 two wheeler. They are the scariest thing I 've ever ridden in my life and when those little yellow signs with the "suggested speed limit" that are posted at curves show-up, you best be doing NO MORE than what it says (when I got back on my GL18, it felt like getting outta a Volkswagen and back in to my Corvette...that's how much differant they feel to a "REAL motorcycle"). BTW, why do you thing those old off-road 3 wheelers were out-lawed and discountinued??? Cause they were a death trap when people would get in over their heads and they would ball-up and roll at a moments notice. IF I ever get to the point that I can't hold up my Goldwing, I would 1st try those landing gear set-ups that deploy when you drop below 5 mph and they retract when you take-off at about the same speed. You know what they say..to each he's own...but for me, it's two wheels or it's no deal

Imagine Steve McQueen on a motorcycle. Hot blonde hops on the back.

Imagine Steve McQueen on a trike. No hot blondes in sight...

        That's my issue with trikes.

Can-Am Spyder MAYBE, would be fun in slick weather a bike isn't suited for, but I still don't see any hot chicks hopping on the back.

Seriously, any sports coupe like a Z4 or a Boxster is way, way cooler than any trike. Boxters can be had for 8 grand all day, less than many used trikes I've seen.

In any case, thanks for posting. Got a hearty laugh.
        1990 Ninja ZX-10. It's the Silver Surfer. HI-YA!!

2006 Yamaha XT-225. Yep, I take it on the interstate. It's Blue Butt.

1982 Toyota 4x4. 22R Cammed, 38/38, 2" pipe, 20R head with OS valves, performance grind and other fun stuff. It's Blue RASPberry.

1969 Ford F-250 Camper Special resto project. 390 RV cam, Demon carb, Sanderson headers, 2 and a quarter pipes with Magnaflow mufflers. It's Blue Jay.

Personally I think all trikes are awful. They're a quad minus a wheel, IMO. Certainly not a motorcycle, although powered by a motorcycle engine usually. Aside from the use by disabled riders perhaps, I just cannot see the point of them. Aesthetically, I can't imagine anything much worse (apart from a quad). The XS1100 seems to be a favourite donor bike, which is a shame. No doubt many XS11's have been ruined to produce these monstrosities. All IMO, of course. I'll stand by for the stream, of invective from trike riders! (I just wish they wouldn't butcher XS11's, that's all....)

                  Have you ridden one?

I have a sidecar outfit which has all the same attributes as a trike, I built it (cheaply) when my kids came along so I could still go out on a bike and take them along too, we had many camping trips away with that thing, fantastic times and great memories.

All the worst things a bike has and all the worst things a car has, none of the advantages. But wow what fun I had riding the thing.

Trikes are the same, try riding one to "get it"
