  • 2002 ZX-9r issues... please help

My buddy recently bought the kawasaki, and he wanted to clean the carbs and change plugs on it, all done. today he put it all back together and started it up and it runs like crap. seems to be light popping when idling, and when he gooses the throttle it will stumble some times. he said he took it for a ride and it stalled on him several times. since i didn't ride it(no endorsement yet) this is all ear-say. any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

im not familiar with the zx9,
but u could remove the plugs and see what they
    look like, (dry,wet, sooted etc)
    have the carbs been synced?
might need to pull the carbs down again
and check that everything is sweet with them.

It's difficult to hear it run on the internet but assuming the carbs were done correctly it could be he broke a spark plug and on those bikes , the wires to the coil in caps are very very short . He might have damaged or nearly pulled a wire out on removal or installation. The wires are too short and the spark plug wells are pretty deep and causes a severe angle when removing/replacing the long cap coils..

Aside that , ask him to look and see if the throttle position switch was reconnected.

Cylinder 1&2 are easy to accidently swap coil positions is another thought that comes to mind. Thats something definately worth checking.
