They truly seem to be the only Standardish version left of these bikes. I do like the look of them. I also like the 4-2 exhaust, but would prefer the EFI system. Yeah, getting one across the pond would be about impossible.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

If you do the eBay search and sort by 'lowest price' you'll find them cheaper than £3,000. These are actual sales and fairly usual prices....

Do used bikes need to pass emissions laws in the States? They don't here. We can import any bike whatsoever and run it. Emissions laws only apply to NEW machines here..... what about over there? I'm thinking of removing the emissions 'afterburner' fitted to my bike... also a common mod. here. It won't make any difference at all to any testing of the bike on its annual check. It would make a difference if the bike were NEW though.....Last edited by James England; 07-15-2012, 04:11 PM.XS1100F 1980 European model. Standard. Dyna coils. Iridium plugs. James, not sure about the importing, but almost all of the states have done away with the emissions checks on vehicles. Few years back, your car or bike had to go through an emissions check each year. Fortunatley that is no longer an issue.
So, if you can get it imported, then registration and such should not be an issue. I just have no clue on the importing.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

Over here there are plenty of private shipping companies that will handle all the importing paperwork and such, and once it's here it has to pass a detailed safety inspection before it can be registered.
I'm guessing that there will be plenty of the same sort of shippers over there, but your epa requirements, if still valid, might be a problem.

I don't think emissions areare a problem for used machines in either USA or UK, actually. Yes, there are stringent requirements on new bikes but not used.
I looked into buying a couple of CBX1000's from the USA. There are places that specialise in bike shipping.
One forum member had a Midnight Special sent from the USA to Norway, I recall!XS1100F 1980 European model. Standard. Dyna coils. Iridium plugs. XS750 final drive (sometimes). Micron fork brace. It is registered in New York.
James, I looked into this a little last night, what I found is that the US EPA will require the bike to be tested at running conditions to ensure it meets the EPA requirements, if I read it correctly, the requirements at time of its build. So the 1999 or 2000 XJR1300 would need to meet the US EPA requirements for a new bike at that time.
I did a little searching, and it seems someone on the XJ forum had looked hard into getting an XJR1300 into the USA and found it would total up to about $25k time it got to him. I like the bike, but not $25k worth.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

Brokerage
I am currently having a generator shipped from Bangor Maine and have set up an importer number with the Canadian government so now I need to talk to my brokerage firm to give them the details about "the bike" then they can tell me with accuracy whether or not I can import any XJR1300.Even a blind monkey gets the odd banana.

I reckon an XJR1300 could be bought here in perfect running order for about $3,500 if one were to shop around. Plus £5k shipping = $8,500.Last edited by James England; 07-16-2012, 05:26 PM.XS1100F 1980 European model. Standard. Dyna coils. Iridium plugs. XS750 final drive (sometimes). Micron fork brace. James and Don, go back and read my last post, and follow the links. The first one talks about the emission requirements (new or used) and the third one lists the EPA approved importers that can handle the importation into the US.
James, I think you'll find that the restrictions on getting something into the US are considerably more stringent than getting things into the UK, and its even easier getting things into here.1980 SG. (Sold - waiting on replacement)
