  • Getting harder to find room for my bikes..

I picked up two more bikes on Wednesday. A 1983 Yamaha Virago 920 Midnight

Guy posted on Craigslist in the am saying he needed it gone by his divorce court that day. Got it delivered to my work 40 miles away 45 min after texting him and only paid 400. Has the typical Virago starter problem and needs a carb cleaning. I have all the plastics and a nice saddlamans seat for it. It's been rattle canned so she's going to get a nice little strip and repaint before I sell her.

The other one was free, 80's model Yamaha XT500, looks like it will just be a parts bike. That brings my total to 4 yammies and 1 Kawasaki. Gonna have to get rid of something in the near future.. Lol

    Other bikes

    1983 Yamaha XV920 Midnight Special
    1984 Yamaha XT250 Enduro (project)

Thankfully there's no wife to get rid of
That's what allows me to buy them all in the first place, I will admit the girlfriend isn't too happy with me since I'm not spending it on her. But she'll have the Kawasaki soon

Nice, you've got a girl that likes to ride!
Next is to somehow get her into helping you wrench too.
Then she'd definitely be a keeper. (And you can make room for her in the garage. LOL)

I feel deep personal conflict on this issue. Is it better to have a lady to play by your side, or one who stays away from our motorcycle addiction so we can have some time alone? I don't have either, so the whole discussion is probably moot.

I don't have one that likes bikes she does help me wrench. I am unable to do much on my own right now and a couple of weeks ago I guided her as she did the brakes and rotors on our minivan and also did the oil change on it as well.

I bought a new 81 XV750 only to see the 920 show up the next year. Always wanted to ride the bigger one as the 750 was ok but nothing special.

                      I've got it bad too

Friday I brought home a 1981 XV920RH Virago (chain drive model). Same price, but needs work. Appears to have a pumice like substance in the oil, the motor is coming out for a tear down, thorough cleaning and bearing replacement.
When finished I will have 5 runners and one parts bike in my one stall garage.

A chain drive model would have been sweet to have. this one really just needs some carb work, a repaint and just a few other mishaps with the starter and what not. I am hoping it is not going to take too much. She's just a profit maker anyways.

I'm surprised you fit all of them! How do you find time to devote riding time to each?

                          packing them in

                          Pancala,
Three abreast and double deep shoe horns them in. I have had the XS in the living room for two seasons, I need to slip the motor back in to complete the frame up restoration. I had almost everything powder coated.
As for riding, I insure two of them, ride them for two or three months and then move the insurance to two others etc. Got to have a backup ready to go if I break something you know. I feel fortunate to have options.
