Serial monogamy or polygamy?

Personally, I never feel easy having more than one bike at the same time. I tend to 'bond' with my current machine and lavish care, attention and devotion on it. My bikes always become like a friend to me, going through good and bad. Somehow, I don't seem to have enough devotion for more than one machine at a time. I've felt, well, unfaithful when I've had more than one bike at the same time and yet I've known people at ease with 40 bikes in a collection (it sounds horrible to me....)

I've been wondering if I'm some kind of oddball, or whether this is a common phenomenon. So, here's a poll!

Its bad enough having to deal with one, I could see buying time with another from time to time, but only need one to keep up with full time........ohhh...wait...you meant bikes!!!

When I had two it was great, one to work on, one to ride, I am sure I woudl have the full harem of bikes, along with cars, trucks, anything motorized on wheels, if I did not have a SWMBO and kids to eat up my finances. Before I was married, I had a sports car, every day car, truck and two bikes.

Polygamy??? Even though I'm from Utah ONE wife at a time is all I can handle. Oh wait your talking bikes, Well I have 4 bikes my wife has two bike's in her name (that I ride more than her) and my son has a bike. Only problem is I don't have enough time to fix them all. It's hard to stay focused on one, they all seem to pull at my time and demand my attention. (How anyone can have more than one wife/spouse is beyond me )

A big ol' road burner for long distance work.
An antique for Sunday rides, parades, etc.
Something with carrying capacity for grocery shopping.
So, a minimum of four.
Plus sidecar rigs, scooters, racebikes etc for those as likes them.
Same deal with wives.
A tall elegant one with good conversation for parties.
A smart one to run the household finances.
A sensuous fertile one to bear & raise the kids.
and a big sturdy one for scrubbing floors and heavy lifting.

Keeping them all happy/running in good condition would be the key to happieness and long life. Neglect them (wifes or bikes) and they may kill you.

Multiple bikes are much easier to manage than multiple wifes (not that I have tried the latter)

I use to be a 1 bike owner... until I pulled Old Man out of the shed. Since I owned a bike when this happened I've just stayed a 2 bike guy. Helps keep the miles off the old dog this way. I'd rather thrash something else around and keep him for trips and sightseeing

3 is Good 4 is Better

I own 3 at the present, until May I had 4, quite an effort to manage more than one bike, but once you get them all to that sweet spot and there's no issues with any of them, it's not a problem at all. The only problem is rotating them and riding them to keep them in that sweet spot so you don't have to fiddle with them. I try to ride each of my bike at least once a week, that sems to do the trick and here in Central Tejas, you can pretty much ride year round...Oh BTW, there is no SO, so I pretty much can do what I want when I want (OR not do anything AT ALL) and I've never been happier in all of my 60+ yrs...
