One here locally. Very nice scoot, but apparently never got the 'popularity' to continue production.

I actually was able to test ride one back in the 90's...the handling especially leaned over into a fast corner and braking hard did nothing to alter your line or upset the bike...was an awesome experience...like Wiki says though the bikes just didnt sell because they were too expensive for their times...
heres the demo bike...this bike previously owned but very low mileage was selling at a dealer's for $14000...didnt get it but always wished i had...
XS1100F 1980 European model. Standard. Dyna coils. Iridium plugs. XS750 final drive (sometimes). Micron fork brace. Progressive front springs. Geezer regulator/rectifier. Stainless 4 into 2 exhaust. Auto CCT (Venturer 1300) SOLD. New project now on the go. 1980 European model.
1993, the year of the funny front end.
Yamaha was not alone in putting out a bike with Weird Harold forks that year.
My memory sez that everyone did, that they all worked a bit better than teles, looked kinda different and cost a LOT more.
Yet another one year wonder.
