  • Picked Me up a New (old) dirt Bike today

So I've had a hankering to get a dirt bike again. So I did some trading with a buddy of mine for a 2000 XR400r for me a 2004 TTR-90 for my son. and as a bonus bike I got a Chi-Won-Ese Baja X250 for the wife and daughter to poke around on. It will also work as a spare bike for freeloading friends.
Heres me on the 400 just got it running. They've been in a storage unit for 4 years. Time for some lovin

Nice! I have always wanted a dirt bike, but never had anywhere close by to ride one till I moved down south.

    Have fun with that thing!

Growing up in the foot hills of the Cascades around Farm land here in SW Washington we all grew up on dirt bikes. What we called a block was 6 miles around. I got my first Dirt bike when I was 6. moved to quads when My son was born. He's 10 now... We bought a house with a little land in June and he's been bugging me about Dirt bikes ever since... He's his fathers son!

A group of Fella's I use to ride with when we were teenagers is getting the "band" back together so to speak. They've taken up trail riding up in the hills. So I had to climb aboard. My wife thinks I've lost my damn mind

After a few beer this one is more my speed... I got it running and started down the driveway. My Son and Niece came running out of the house. My Son yells "you better not break my bike DAD!"

                Hi Don,
to me, your face has the look of someone who's just crushed his nuts on that 90's tiny little seat and is trying not to scream in front of the child.

Yeah, I grew up, or at least got older, in Graham WA, riding dirt bikes all over the place. You could still go all over Warehauser's thousands of miles of gravel roads then and anywhere up into the mountains. Last time I was up there, they had them all gated and locked. I couldn't show my boys where I used to go camping/hunting/fishing.

But.. not too long ago, got the itch myself and bought an '06 Suzuki DR 650. A couple weeks ago, my oldest son ended up picking up a '03 Suzuki DRZ 400. We went up into the "Mountains" in eastern Oklahoma this last weekend for our first dirt ride together and made some good memories. Now I just need to try to figure out a way to get my youngest son one also. He was whining about wanting to go too, but he's a full time broke college student. Come to think of it, the oldest is a full time broke college student also. .lol. He just works on the side some. His 400 is actually faster than my 650, but my 650 has almost twice the torque his bike has, which comes in pretty handy at low speeds/rpm.

                    This is from last Saturday.

                    My son.

I envy your riding location, though I did get to go ride around Colorado a few months back. AMAZING views there. Tried camping at 11,000 feet the 2nd day there. Won't be doing that again. Here's the ride report if anyone feels like reading it or has some time to kill. For those of you who were not too fond of Cody (Maximan), you may enjoy this a bit more than others.. lol.

Try your hardest to be the kind of person your dog thinks you are.

You can live to be 100, as long as you give up everything that would make you want to live to be 100!

Had to Order a new pilot Jet for my Son's TTR today. i couldn't get it unclogged. And I'm in the process of stripping down the XR so I can clean the carb and change the filters and plug on it. Ran into a snag with it. You need to have the Factory HONDA plug socket to fit down that lil hole or Buy the thin walled Pro Motion 18mm plug socket. and the tool kits missing off the bike So i ordered the $18 socket. Gonna need it..... Flooded the crap out of it earlier and now it won't start. My leg hurts now! 4 stroke dirt bikes should all be electric start!

So i guess I got time to take the back frame apart and pull the air box and carb and do it up right while I'm waiting for my socket to show up. The pilot Jet for the boys bike sould be here thursday. Then I can finish my Seam foaming of the oil and change it and the fuel filter. and button that one up.

I got the X250 torn down and the broken ignition switch out of it and got it ordered. Turned the petcock on and it started leaking everywhere... So I ordered a new on of those as it is not rebuildable.

Ah the joys of other peoples stored toys! Glad I'm not into them too much!
