    Bridgestone sale 20% off

I just bought a new front tire for my bike. The mechanic that sold it to me said bridgstone has a 20% off sale going on. I got a bridgstone spitfire 100/90 / 19 put on my rim and balanced for 123.30. Not a bad deal.

LOL.. Dang, that was brutal, Steve! lol.

Although, I know several places that charge $50 to mount/balance a tire, so the deal he got probably isn't too bad for a shop-bought tire.

I've been buying all my tires from Jake Wilson/Rocky Mountain ATV. I search for the best price on what I want every time, and lately it's always them. It doesn't hurt that their price includes shipping.

Last time, I took my wheels to the local chopper/custom shop. I paid the man $60 for mount and balance. That's high, but he took great care not to scratch or use lube that would corrode my wheels. I think it's time for me to buy some stuff and start doing it myself.

I bought one of those cheap changers from Harbor Freight, but they've quit selling them. I checked Northern Tool, but they don't have them either. Anyone know where they could be bought at? Surely SOMEBODY still makes/supplies them??

            Harbor Freight stuff

The only tire changers listed are for "up to 12 in rim" or $1500.

Yeah, they still have stuff that will break the seal on a tire, but nothing to take the tire off or put one back on. I also prefer the cheap vertical balancers using the rod and cones over those bubble balancers. Much more accurate.

With the tire and a 65 dollar shop rate the shop charges a one hour minimum. Its cheaper than 60 for the tire your talking about.no wait on shipping. I took the wheel off got the tire changed and had it back on the bike it a couple hours. worth it if you ask me

Still $60 as of a few minutes ago.... http://www.jakewilson.com/p/52/-/343...otorcycle-Tire

If you're not changing your own tires, it can be nearly as cheap to pay the higher prices with 'free mounting' (which isn't really free, is it?) given what most shops charge for mounting tires bought elsewhere.

The shipping time has never been an issue for me; both Wilson and Superstore have free 3-day shipping (and it really only takes three days), and the few times I've bought locally they had to order the tires in and it took about the same, plus the drive time to/from (which for me is an hour+ each way and $15 worth of gas...). I can order online, three days later the tires turn up at my door, and I've never paid more than $120 for a pair...
