  • Thinking about buying an r80rt

Thinking of buying an BMW 1985 r80rt that has been sitting for 6 years with all the fluids in it. Any ideas of what it will take at a min to get it road worthy the bike had low miles and has been taken care of well. The more it needs done the better the price. Let me know if anyone has some thoughts.

It'll need the carbs rebuilt and a new battery at the minimum. If it was my bike, I would to go through the brakes and give the engine a full service before taking it for the first ride.

Also check the dates on the tires. These days they say tires are only good for a few years no matter how few miles are on them...

Yeah I'm on the same page. It's had gas sitting in the take for six years of service what can I look for in order to see if it's gonna be an issue besides rust

Pop the float bowls and see how bad it looks.

I bought the bike all it needs is a stearing head bearing. It's good timing too because my xs needs some love and I don't want to be with out two wheels. I don't know how the BMW is going to compare to the xs tho. I'll prob hate it.
